68th Annual Scientific Meeting Pre-Course 3: Refractory Headache: Diagnostic and Management Challenges Across Headache Disorders

Following this session, learners will improve competence in recognizing, classifying, and managing refractory headache disorders—including pressure-related syndromes (high, low, and mixed), post-traumatic headache, cluster headache, and refractory migraine by contextualizing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies across emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings. Learners will demonstrate improved performance by applying evidence-based, multidisciplinary management frameworks to real-world clinical decision-making, reducing variability in care and overcoming common barriers such as diagnostic uncertainty, fragmented care pathways, and escalation of treatment in complex cases. As a result, this activity is designed to improve patient outcomes by promoting more timely diagnosis, appropriate escalation or de-escalation of therapies, coordinated multidisciplinary care, and improved symptom control for patients with refractory and high-burden headache disorders.
